Job summary

Affirm is seeking a platform-focused data engineer to design, operate, and extend data infrastructure enabling engineers to work with data at scale.

You will contribute to reliability, self-service tooling, and semantic layer infrastructure while collaborating across security, infrastructure, and application teams. Strong Python/SQL, data governance, and CI/CD experience are required.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating a cloud analytical data platform (Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery).
• Experience with data governance, access control, and cost optimization.
• Proficient in building internal platforms and self-service tooling for engineers.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate platform features enabling data apps at scale.
• Build integrations between platform and CI/CD pipelines, identity, and APIs.
• Strengthen data access patterns with RBAC, masking, secure views.
• Automate toil and create self-service capabilities for users.
• Improve observability, incident response, and runbooks.
• Participate in on-call coverage and platform maintenance.
• Contribute to semantic layer infrastructure and AI-ready tooling.
• Set high standards for code reviews, reliability, and design.
