Job summary

BECU is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and maintain enterprise-scale cloud-based data pipelines and analytics solutions. You will collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and architects to deliver secure, scalable data products supporting governance, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities.

The role requires 5+ years in data engineering, strong SQL and coding skills (Python/Scala/Java), and extensive cloud experience (Azure/AWS/GCP).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of functional experience in data engineering.
• 4+ years of coding in Python, Scala, Java, SQL.
• Cloud technologies experience (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Experience with Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake.
• Experience with ETL/ELT, SQL, and Azure services (Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, Event Hubs, Azure Storage, Azure functions, Container apps, API Management).
• Experience with SQL, data modeling, data warehousing, data analysis, and enterprise data stores.

Responsibilities

• Design enterprise data solutions for cloud-native data platforms and integration services.
• Build scalable data pipelines, including batch and near real-time integrations.
• Drive innovation with prototypes and scalable data solutions balancing tech and business needs.
• Champion data governance, metadata management, data quality, lineage and governance practices.
• Enable data curation across data platforms and workflows.
• Mentor data engineering teams through reviews, testing, and development activities.
• Collaborate with architects and leadership on roadmaps and cloud modernization.
• Raise engineering excellence through standards, CI/CD, automated testing, and code quality.
