Job summary

BECU is hiring a Senior Data Engineer to design enterprise data solutions and build scalable data pipelines in a cloud-first environment. You will collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and architects to deliver secure, reusable data products that support analytics and AI-enabled capabilities.

You’ll contribute to data governance, drive modernization initiatives, and mentor teams across the data engineering organization while working in a distributed-friendly, inclusive culture that values

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related discipline or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years of functional experience in data engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of coding in Python, Scala, Java, SQL.
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Experience with modern data platforms (Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake).
• Experience with ETL/ELT, SQL, and Azure services like Data Factory & Cosmos DB.

Responsibilities

• Design enterprise data solutions for cloud-native data platforms.
• Build scalable data pipelines, including batch and real-time integrations.
• Drive technical innovation with prototypes and scalable data solutions.
• Champion data governance with metadata management and data quality standards.
• Enable data curation across platforms and workflows.
• Mentor data engineering teams through reviews, testing, and development.
• Collaborate with Architects and leadership on roadmaps and modernization.
• Elevate engineering practices with CI/CD, testing, and code quality.
