BECU is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and implement enterprise-scale, cloud-based data pipelines. You will partner with architects, product owners, and leadership to deliver secure, scalable data products that enable analytics, governance, and AI-enabled capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum 5 years of functional experience in data engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in coding languages like Python, Scala, Java, SQL.
• Experience with cloud technologies (Azure, AWS, GCP).
• Experience with modern data platforms (Azure Synapse, Azure Databricks, Redshift, BigQuery, Snowflake).
• Experience using ETL/ELT, SQL, and Azure Services (Data Factory, SQL, Cosmos DB, Event Hubs).
• Experience with SQL, data modeling, data warehousing, ODS, data lakes/lakehouse solutions.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps and GitHub.
• Experience with Git, code reviews, branching (Git Flow or Trunk-Based).

Responsibilities

• Design enterprise data solutions and develop multi-tier cloud-native data systems.
• Build scalable data pipelines for batch, near real-time, and API integrations.
• Support prototypes, proofs of concept, and scalable data solutions.
• Champion metadata management, data quality, lineage, and governance.
• Guide data curation policies across platforms and workflows.
• Mentor data engineering teams through design reviews and testing.
• Collaborate on roadmaps for cloud modernization and future data platforms.
• Contribute to coding standards, CI/CD, testing, and code quality.
• Enhance observability and reliability of pipelines and systems.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to improve productivity and code quality.
