Job summary

Rackspace Technology is seeking a Data Center Operations Technician in Ashburn, VA, to manage IT infrastructure and customer configurations in a data center environment, aiming for 99.999% uptime. You will monitor a ticketing system to deliver prompt customer support and perform hardware/OS tasks across multiple platforms.

Ideal candidates bring extensive data center experience, RAID expertise, and strong hardware troubleshooting skills, with the ability to lift 50 lbs and install cabling,

Qualifications

• Must be a US Citizen.
• 8-years’ experience working in a data center environment.
• Able to lift 50 lbs overhead.
• Strong understanding of storage RAID configurations.
• Able to build, repair or upgrade hardware components.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and prioritize an internal ticketing system to provide customer support.
• Provide basic OS storage troubleshooting, storage upgrades, hardware troubleshooting and RAID configuration changes.
• Provide hardware support and upgrades for servers running Windows Server, Red Hat ESXi/Hypervisor? (VMware ESX) or Linux.
• Perform simple OS administration tasks such as setting up OS network IPs, PXE-based installs, firmware updates and basic troubleshooting.
• Install or remove fiber or copper cabling and test Layer 1 connectivity.
• Install network device hardware including switches, firewalls, load-balancers and security appliances.
• Install hardware on storage devices including DAS and NAS arrays.
• Complete customer maintenance requests including hardware modification, OS installation, mounting in cabinets and cabling.
