Job summary

Rackspace Technology in Elk Grove Village, IL is seeking a Data Center Operations Technician to own IT infrastructure within the data center, ensuring customer server environments are secure, operational and maintained for 99.999% uptime.

You will monitor and support hardware and OS, perform storage upgrades and RAID configurations, handle network cabling and rack mounting, and collaborate with teams to deliver reliable multicloud services.

Qualifications

US citizen required.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
2 years in a data center environment preferred.
Ability to build, repair or upgrade hardware components.
Strong understanding of storage RAID configurations.

Responsibilities

Monitor and prioritize internal ticketing system to provide customer support.
Provide basic OS storage troubleshooting and storage upgrades.
Hardware support and upgrades for servers running Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux or Ubuntu Linux or VMWare ESX.
Basic OS administration such as setting up IPs, fresh OS installs via PXE, firmware updates, and basic OS troubleshooting.
Install or remove fiber or copper cabling and perform Layer 1 testing and issue resolution.
Install hardware for network devices including switches, firewalls, load balancers and security appliances.
Install storage hardware including DAS and NAS arrays.
Complete customer maintenance requests involving hardware modification, OS installation, and cabinet mounting.
