Job summary

Rackspace Technology in Elk Grove Village, IL is seeking a Data Center Operations Technician to own IT infrastructure and ensure 99.999% uptime for customer environments. You will monitor systems, handle storage and hardware upgrades, and perform OS installations while coordinating with internal tickets.

The role requires a US citizenship, a high school diploma, 2 years in a data center, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Qualifications

• Must be a US Citizen.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 2-years' experience working in a data center environment.
• Able to build, repair or upgrade hardware components.
• Strong understanding of storage RAID configurations and requirements.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. overhead

Responsibilities

• Monitor and prioritize an internal ticketing system to provide customer support.
• Provide basic OS storage troubleshooting, storage upgrades, hardware troubleshooting and RAID configuration changes.
• Provide hardware support and upgrades for servers running Windows Server, RHEL, Ubuntu or VMware ESX.
• Perform simple OS administration tasks including network IP setup, OS installs, and firmware updates.
• Install or remove fiber or copper cabling; handle Layer 1 network testing and connectivity issues.
• Install network device hardware such as switches, firewalls, load-balancers and security appliances.
• Install hardware on storage devices including DAS and NAS arrays.
• Complete customer maintenance requests including hardware modification and cabling.
