Job summary

Jacobs in Pittsburgh is seeking a Senior HVAC Engineer for our Data Center market. You will lead the Building Mechanical team on projects, perform field investigations, interface with clients and vendors, size and select equipment, and prepare construction design packages.

You will ensure schedule and technical quality on challenging tasks, collaborate with multi-discipline teams, and develop process design bases and drawings. We offer hybrid work and a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years’ experience in the design of HVAC systems.
• Thorough knowledge of codes and standards related to the design of HVAC systems.
• Adaptability to work within a fast-paced team environment with multiple deadlines.
• Ability to lead a building mechanical team on a project and collaborate with other discipline team members remotely.

Responsibilities

• Layout and design of HVAC systems for various types of clients, including electric vehicles, data centers, and heavy industrial facilities.
• Development of the design criteria for the HVAC systems, including general comfort heating and cooling, precise temperature/humidity control, pressurization, and clean room requirements.
• Development of conceptual and preliminary design documents with sizing calculations, P&ID development, and general arrangements.
• Layout of ductwork systems based on P&ID and coordination with other systems.
• Development of final design documents including specifications, sequences of operation, piping layouts, and construction drawings for chilled water and cooling water systems.
• Mentoring of less experienced staff.
• Collaborative work style to meet client expectations and project milestones.
