Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Architect to design and deliver complex data center solutions across physical and cloud environments. The role requires hands-on leadership in networking, compute, storage, middleware, and databases, with a focus on scalability and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher required.
• 5+ years of related experience.
• In lieu of degree, 7+ years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, architect, and deliver complex infrastructure designs.
• Own technology lifecycle management and capacity planning.
• Define and maintain performance standards for scalability and resilience.
• Provide expert guidance on emerging technologies and vendor partnerships.
• Lead licensing, financial planning and capacity initiatives for datacenter tech.
• Consult with IT partners, stakeholders, and vendors on infrastructure decisions.
• Execute detailed infrastructure designs for large-scale initiatives.
• Ensure operational readiness through planning, coordination and execution.
• Provide guidance during production incidents to ensure stability.
• Develop standardized engineering guidelines and roadmaps.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture on roadmaps and standards.
• Coordinate with vendors to align implementations with design specifications.
• Present new tech overviews to IT and leadership.
