Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Architect to design and shape complex data center solutions across physical and cloud-hosted environments. The role requires architectural leadership, capacity planning, and collaboration with vendors to ensure scalable, resilient infrastructure.

The candidate will lead technology currency initiatives, enforce standards, and mentor junior engineers while engaging IT partners and business stakeholders to resolve

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree.
• 5+ years of experience in related field.
• In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan, architect, and deliver complex infrastructure designs.
• Own technology currency, lifecycle management, and capacity planning.
• Define and maintain hardware and software performance standards.
• Provide expert-level guidance on emerging technologies and vendor partnerships.
• Lead licensing, financial planning, and capacity initiatives for datacenter tech.
• Consult with IT partners, stakeholders, and vendors on infrastructure decisions.
• Execute detailed infrastructure designs for large-scale initiatives.
• Ensure operational readiness through planning, coordination, and upgrades.
• Offer guidance during complex production incidents to maintain stability.
• Develop standardized engineering guidelines and roadmaps.
• Collaborate with enterprise architecture for roadmaps and standards.
• Coordinate with vendors to align delivered solutions with design intents.
• Present technology overviews to IT and leadership forums.
• Mentor less experienced engineers with technical direction.
