Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina is seeking a Data Center Architect to design and optimize complex data center infrastructures across physical and cloud environments. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree.
• 5+ years of experience in related field.
• In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field.

Responsibilities

• Plan, architect, and deliver complex infrastructure designs for network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware, and database solutions.
• Own technology currency, lifecycle management, and capacity planning to meet SLAs.
• Define hardware and software performance standards for scalability and resilience.
• Provide deep technical guidance on emerging technologies and vendor partnerships.
• Lead licensing, financial planning, and capacity initiatives for datacenter tech.
• Consult with IT partners, stakeholders, and vendors on infrastructure decisions.
• Execute detailed designs for large-scale initiatives with IT stakeholders and partners.
• Ensure readiness through planning, coordination, and execution of upgrades and support.
• Offer expert guidance during complex production incidents to maintain stability.
• Develop and maintain standardized engineering guidelines and schedules.
• Build partnerships to maintain roadmaps and standards.
• Collaborate with vendors to align solutions with architecture and design.
• Present new tech overviews to IT and enterprise leadership.
• Mentor engineers with technical direction and knowledge sharing.
