Job summary

Blue Cross NC is seeking an experienced Infrastructure Architect/Engineer to design and deliver complex data center and cloud infrastructure, spanning network, compute, storage, platform, middleware, and database solutions. You will define standards, assess requirements, and collaborate with vendors and stakeholders to ensure scalability and performance.

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree is required.
• Minimum 5+ years in related field; 7+ years if no degree.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan, architect, and deliver complex infrastructure designs supporting network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware, and database solutions.
• Own technology currency, lifecycle management, and capacity planning to meet SLAs.
• Define and maintain hardware and software performance standards for scalability, resilience, and operational excellence.
• Serve as an infrastructure subject matter expert, guiding on emerging technologies and partnering with vendors.
• Lead software and hardware licensing, financial planning, and capacity initiatives for datacenter technologies.
• Consult with IT partners, business stakeholders, and vendors on network and data center infrastructure decisions.
• Execute detailed infrastructure designs for large-scale initiatives with IT stakeholders, service owners, and delivery partners.
• Ensure operational readiness through planning, coordination, and execution of performance tuning, support, incidents, and upgrades.
• Provide expert guidance during complex production incidents to support rapid resolution and stability.
• Develop and maintain engineering guidelines, procedures, and schedules to streamline delivery and improve operations.
• Collaborate with enterprise architecture to maintain roadmaps and standards for infrastructure; work with vendors to align solutions with design specs.
• Present new technologies to IT and enterprise leadership across forums; mentor junior engineers with technical direction and knowledge sharing.
