Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina seeks a senior infrastructure architect to design and optimize data center and cloud infrastructures. You will plan complex architectures, manage lifecycle, and ensure capacity aligns with SLAs across network, compute, telephony, and database domains.

You’ll partner with IT stakeholders and vendors to drive technology maturity, licensing, and performance standards while guiding teams through large initiatives and incident response.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree.
• 5+ years of experience in related field.
• In lieu of degree, 7+ years of experience in related field.

Responsibilities

• Independently plan, architect, and deliver complex infrastructure designs supporting network, compute, telephony, platform, middleware, and database solutions.
• Own technology currency, lifecycle management, and capacity planning to ensure infrastructure capabilities meet SLAs.
• Define and maintain hardware and software performance standards for scalability and resilience.
• Serve as an infrastructure subject matter expert, guiding on emerging technologies with vendors.
• Lead licensing, financial planning, and capacity initiatives for datacenter technologies.
• Consult with IT partners, business stakeholders, and vendors on infrastructure decisions.
• Execute detailed designs for large-scale initiatives with IT stakeholders and service owners.
• Ensure operational readiness through planning, coordination, and execution of performance tuning and upgrades.
• Provide expert guidance during production incidents for rapid resolution and stability.
• Develop standardized engineering guidelines and schedules to streamline delivery.
• Build partnerships to maintain roadmaps and standards across architecture teams.
• Collaborate with vendors to ensure alignment with design specs.
• Present technology overviews to IT and leadership forums.
• Mentor engineers with technical direction and knowledge sharing.
