Job summary

Intuit is seeking an Assistant General Counsel, Privacy & Data Governance to lead our data governance strategy across data-driven products. You will partner with the Privacy Regulatory Compliance team and product leaders to implement compliant, well-governed data flows from inception.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant legal experience (in-house and/or at a law firm).
• Deep expertise in data governance — data classification, lineage, quality, mapping, and retention.
• Strong knowledge of US state and federal privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA, GLBA) and familiarity with GDPR/PIPEDA.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Intuit’s go-to expert on data governance, advising business and technology partners on classification, lineage, quality, and lifecycle management and translating governance requirements into scalable controls.
• Partner with Privacy Regulatory Compliance to translate privacy requirements into practical data governance standards, architecture principles, and controls for product/engineering teams.
• Work with product development leaders, Technology, Product Counsel, and Privacy Product Counsel to design products around compliant, well-governed data flows from the outset.
• Advise on applying privacy-by-design principles (data minimization, purpose limitation, transparency, customer choice) to evolving technologies and product data architectures.
• Lead data governance workstreams — including data mapping, classification, and retention practices — with engineering and data platform teams.
• Act as a trusted data governance advisor to cross-functional teams, enabling scalable, responsible data-driven product development.
• Build and maintain relationships across Product, Engineering, Technology, Privacy Regulatory Compliance, and Legal teams to align on governance outcomes.
• Stay current on emerging data governance practices and AI data use, translating them into scalable governance approaches for new products.
