Job summary

RTX in the United States is seeking a controls systems engineer to join the Precision Control Actuation System (PCAS) team to support development, build, and verification of flight actuation control systems. Locations include the PCAS sites in Tucson, AZ or Huntsville, AZ, with opportunities to work autonomously and across engineering disciplines on advanced control techniques and performance analysis.

Qualifications

• Typically requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree with at least 5 years experience.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in air vehicle or missile flight actuation control design and/or analysis, including control architecture design and/or requirements development and/or performance analysis.

Responsibilities

• Provide controls engineering support across programs, including development of flight actuation control system architectures and implementation of advanced control laws.
• Flex responsibilities based on current organizational needs and skill sets.
• Work autonomously with regular oversight, with knowledge of air vehicle gear train dynamics and flight motor control, advanced control techniques, inertial sensors, digital communications, and missile servo position performance in simulation and test.
• Develop high-fidelity motor and gear train models with nonlinearities and temperature dependencies.
• Develop and execute test plans to verify performance against requirements and anchor models.
