Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Configuration Analyst for a remote role supporting Veterans Affairs (VA). The candidate will lead CM and release engineering, migrate to cloud, and build reusable CM tools. Strong leadership and collaboration across stakeholders are essential.

Required deep CM expertise, experience in regulated environments, and advanced scripting/DevOps skills. U.S. citizenship and Public Trust security clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Evidence of leading complex software builds and releases across multiple environments.
• Experience in large regulated or federal environments.
• Deep expertise in configuration management and release engineering.
• Broad knowledge of development, QA, systems engineering, and DevOps.
• Experience with CM practices: identification, baselining, change control, status accounting.
• Experience with source control systems and branching/merging strategies.
• Experience with CI/CD tools and artifact repositories.
• Experience with scripting for automation.
• Experience managing COTS software, vendor patches, and version control.
• Experience with IaC and environment management (Ansible, Terraform).
• Knowledge of software quality standards, governance, and training developers.
• Proficiency with work management and documentation tools.

Responsibilities

• Support VA applications and migrate to the cloud.
• Develop and maintain CM tools for identification, control, reporting, and delivery of software products.
• Perform CM and release tasks ensuring parameters align with hardware configurations.
• Design, develop, automate, and maintain productivity tools for software modeling.
• Design and implement build procedures to support development and use.
• Develop software configuration standards for company-wide use.
• Train developers in CM tools and quality standards.
• Provide technical guidance and solutions to complex problems.
• Operate autonomously and make sound decisions.
• Ensure compliant, repeatable build and deployment processes across projects.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Lead and train junior analysts/engineers in CM best practices.
