Job summary

CNA Insurance seeks an experienced claims professional to manage high-exposure, complex mass tort litigation claims across multiple offices. You will evaluate coverage, develop resolution strategies, negotiate settlements, and drive litigation management while delivering proactive communication to insureds and claimants.

The role requires independent judgment, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to quality service. Hybrid schedule with flexibility across CNA offices, including CT.

Qualifications

• JD or Bachelor's Degree with relevant experience in a Claims organization or legal capacity.
• Typically a minimum six years of relevant claims or legal experience
• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire where applicable.
• Negotiation experience, including mediations.
• Abuse, product liability, pollution, and/or high severity general liability claims experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage an inventory of complex commercial litigation claims requiring technical expertise, independent judgement and proactive claim handling.
• Analyze policy language and coverage obligations and prepare written coverage determinations.
• Develop, own, and execute claim resolution strategies, including risk transfer, settlement negotiations, and all aspects of litigation management. Collaborate with internal and external business partners, as appropriate, to move claims to closure.
• Ensures exceptional customer service through proactive claim management and professional, effective communication with insureds, claimants, and business partners. Provide timely updates and responds promptly to inquiries and requests for information.
• Set and manage timely, adequate reserves considering coverage, liability, and damages.
• Keep leadership informed of significant risks and losses through exposure evaluations, loss summaries, and presentations of claim status and resolution strategy.
• Maintain subject matter expertise and ensure compliance with applicable state and/or regulatory requirements.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.
