Job summary

CNA Financial seeks an experienced claims professional to manage high-exposure, complex mass tort litigation claims. You will analyze policy language, develop coverage determinations, and lead resolution strategies including settlements and litigation management.

In this role, strong communication with insureds and partners, proactive claim management, and regulatory compliance are essential. A JD or equivalent, and a license, plus six years’ experience are typical requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum six years of relevant claims or legal experience.
• JD or Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience.
• Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days where applicable.
• Negotiation experience, including mediations.
• Experience with complex commercial, pollution, or high-severity claims preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage an inventory of complex commercial litigation claims requiring technical expertise and proactive handling.
• Analyze policy language and determine coverage obligations with written determinations.
• Develop, own, and execute claim resolution strategies including settlements and litigation management.
• Provide timely updates and communicate with insureds, claimants, and business partners.
• Set and manage reserves considering coverage, liability, and damages.
• Keep leadership informed of risks and losses with exposure evaluations and status reports.
• Maintain subject matter expertise and ensure regulatory compliance.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.
