Qualifications

• JD or Bachelor's Degree with relevant experience in a Claims organization or legal capacity.
• Typically a minimum six years of relevant claims or legal experience.
• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire where applicable.
• Negotiation experience, including mediations.
• Abuse, product liability, pollution, and/or high severity general liability claims experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage an inventory of complex commercial litigation claims requiring technical expertise, independent judgement and proactive claim handling.
• Analyze policy language and coverage obligations and prepare written coverage determinations.
• Develop, own, and execute claim resolution strategies, including risk transfer, settlement negotiations, and all aspects of litigation management.
• Collaborate with internal and external business partners, as appropriate, to move claims to closure.
• Ensures exceptional customer service through proactive claim management and professional, effective communication with insureds, claimants, and business partners.
• Provide timely updates and responds promptly to inquiries and requests for information.
• Set and manage timely, adequate reserves considering coverage, liability, and damages.
• Keep leadership informed of significant risks and losses through exposure evaluations, loss summaries, and presentations of claim status and resolution strategy.
• Maintain subject matter expertise and ensure compliance with applicable state and/or regulatory requirements.
