Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) seeks a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to provide day-to-day operational support for complex cloud-based systems. This remote role involves collaboration with VA stakeholders to ensure reliability and security across AWS/Azure environments.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in systems engineering, strong Linux/Windows expertise, scripting in Python/Bash/PowerShell, and experience with IaC, CI/CD, and monitoring tools. U.S. citizenship required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in systems engineering, production environments.
• 3+ years of SQL queries and monitoring experience.
• Strong scripting and automation skills in Python/Bash/PowerShell.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level daily operational support for complex cloud systems.
• Develop solutions for routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Follow standard procedures to analyze situations and data.
• Detect, document, report, and resolve system outages during operations.
• Document problems in logging and discrepancy tools.
• Work with customers on day-to-day activities.
• Respond to user calls regarding hardware and software issues and escalate as needed.
• Communicate status to users and senior management.
• Maintain computing infrastructure and assets inventory.
• Support compliance with VA standards and security policies.
