Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer for Production Support. This role is fully remote with responsibilities spanning day-to-day operational support of complex cloud systems, incident response, and ongoing collaboration with VA stakeholders.

You will manage AWS/Azure-based environments, automate tasks with scripting and IaC, and ensure compliance with security standards. A bachelor’s degree is required, with 8+ years in systems engineering and 3+ years in SQL

Qualifications

• 8+ years in systems engineering, with production environment experience.
• 3+ years of SQL query experience and monitoring.
• Experience with AWS/Azure, Linux/Windows, and automation tooling.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support of cloud systems.
• Develop solutions for routine technical problems of limited scope.
• Document problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools.
• Work directly with customers in day-to-day activities.
• Respond to user calls regarding hardware and software problems; escalate when required.
• Communicate status of key problem statuses to users and senior management.
• Maintain computing infrastructure and perform installations/maintenance.
• Implement continuous improvement through IT systems or procedures.
• Maintain inventory of system assets and ensure VA security policies.
