Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (Production Support) to provide high-level operational support for complex cloud systems. You will detect, diagnose, and recover outages, while ensuring VA security standards and smooth daily operations.

This role emphasizes collaboration with customer teams and cross-functional groups. Candidates should have 8+ years in production systems engineering, strong cloud experience (AWS/Azure), scripting, and IaC skills.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in systems engineering, production environments preferred.
• Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms and cloud-native tech.
• Strong Linux/Unix and Windows administration skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day operational support of complex cloud systems.
• Develop solutions for routine technical problems within scope.
• Follow standard procedures to analyze situations and data.
• Detect, isolate, document, and resolve outages with recovery workarounds.
• Document problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools.
• Work directly with customers on day-to-day activities.
• Respond to hardware/software user issues; escalate when needed.
• Communicate status to users and senior management.
• Perform maintenance/installation of computing infrastructure.
• Implement continuous improvement across IT systems and procedures.
• Maintain inventory of system assets and ensure VA compliance.
• Provide training and additional duties as assigned.
