Job summary

Fuze Health is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead the AWS-based modernization of our hospice-focused database estate. You will drive SQL Server upgrades, Migrate SSIS/SSRS workloads, and steer cost optimization while mentoring the Hospice DBA team and ensuring HITRUST compliance across cloud and on-premise databases.

You will partner with DevOps to automate infrastructure with Terraform and shape the 2027 database modernization roadmap including PostgreSQL/Aurora options.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server version upgrades and end-of-support migrations.
• Strong hands-on experience with SSIS and SSRS.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, monitoring.
• Experience with AWS-native ETL and data migration tooling (AWS DMS, AWS Glue).
• Experience with Terraform for database infrastructure management.
• Experience with other database engines (PostgreSQL, Aurora).
• Experience with Windows Server administration.
• AWS certifications (Database Specialty, Solutions Architect) preferred.
• Experience mentoring junior DBAs or developers on database best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of SQL Server modernization on EC2 and/or AWS RDS migrations.
• Assess, migrate, and maintain SSIS ETL and SSRS reports, possibly re-platforming to AWS-native services.
• Drive database cost optimization through right-sizing, RI evaluation, and storage tiering.
• Upskill and mentor Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring and performance baselines using Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes using AWS Backup.
• Collaborate with DevOps on infrastructure automation (Terraform for RDS).
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance across database systems.
• Support Hospice application team with DB-related development needs.
• Evaluate future modernization opportunities (PostgreSQL, Aurora) for 2027 roadmap.
