Job summary

Fuze Health seeks a Senior Database Administrator to lead the Hospice unit's AWS database modernization. You will drive SQL Server on EC2 migrations, modernize SSIS/SSRS, and optimize costs while mentoring the Hospice DBA team.

The role requires deep SQL Server expertise, cloud ops, and HITRUST compliance experience. You will collaborate with DevOps on Terraform, ensure robust DR, and explore PostgreSQL/Aurora for the 2027 roadmap.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, HA, DR.
• Hands-on with SQL Server upgrades and end-of-support migrations (e.g., SQL Server 2016).
• Strong experience with SSIS and SSRS.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, monitoring.
• Experience with AWS-native ETL and data migration tools (AWS DMS, AWS Glue).
• Terraform for database infra management.
• Willingness to mentor junior DBAs on cloud DB operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2 and migration to AWS RDS or in-place upgrades.
• Migrate/maintain SSIS ETL and SSRS reports; explore AWS-native ETL/reporting options.
• Drive database cost optimization and right-sizing.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations and cloud best practices.
• Establish cloud-native DB monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery using AWS Backup.
• Collaborate with DevOps on infrastructure automation (Terraform).
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance across database systems.
• Support Hospice application team with database needs.
• Evaluate future modernization opportunities (PostgreSQL, Aurora) for 2027.
