Job summary

Fuze Health is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead the hospice database modernization effort across AWS and on-premise environments. You will drive SQL Server upgrades, migration of SSIS/SSRS, and cloud-native approaches while mentoring the Hospice DBA team and ensuring HITRUST compliance.

You will design cost-optimized architectures, establish monitoring with Datadog/CloudWatch, and explore PostgreSQL/Aurora for the 2027 roadmap as part of a high-impact, national healthcare platform.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of database administration experience.
• Expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Hands-on upgrades and migrations off SQL Server 2016, including compatibility testing.
• Strong SSIS ETL and SSRS reporting experience.
• Experience with AWS RDS for SQL Server, EC2 deployments, and cloud-based ETL tooling (DMS, Glue).
• Terraform for infrastructure management; cloud-native monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch.
• HITRUST E1 compliance understanding and Windows Server administration.
• Mentoring junior DBAs or developers on database best practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute SQL Server modernization on EC2 and/or RDS, with upgrade testing.
• Migrate/maintain SSIS ETL packages and SSRS reports to AWS-native or upgraded SQL Server environments.
• Drive database cost optimization through right-sizing, RI assessments, and licensing cost reduction.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations and cloud best practices.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring and baseline performance with Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery using AWS Backup.
• Collaborate with DevOps on Terraform-based infrastructure automation.
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance across database systems.
• Support Hospice application team with database needs; explore PostgreSQL/Aurora options for 2027 roadmap.
• Evaluate future modernization opportunities and roadmaps.
