Job summary

Fuze Health is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead the Hospice division's AWS database modernization. You will drive SQL Server migration to AWS RDS or upgrade on EC2, modernize SSIS/SSRS pipelines, and optimize costs while mentoring the Hospice team on cloud DB operations.

You will establish monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch, implement automated backups, and ensure HITRUST E1 compliance. This role focuses on scalable, secure healthcare data solutions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• Expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server upgrades and end-of-support migrations (e.g., SQL Server 2016).
• Strong SSIS/SSRS development and administration experience.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, monitoring.
• Experience with AWS-native ETL tools (DMS, Glue) or plan to modernize SSIS-based ETL in AWS.
• Experience with Terraform for DB infrastructure management.
• Experience with other DB engines (PostgreSQL, Aurora) for future roadmap.
• Windows Server administration experience.
• AWS certifications (Database Specialty, Solutions Architect).
• Mentoring junior DBAs or developers on database best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2 including migration to AWS RDS or in-place upgrade.
• Migrate or upgrade SSIS ETL packages and SSRS reports; evaluate AWS-native ETL/reporting options.
• Drive database cost optimization through right-sizing, RI evaluation, and storage tiering.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS DB operations and cloud best practices.
• Establish cloud-native DB monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery using AWS Backup.
• Collaborate with DevOps on infrastructure automation (Terraform).
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance across DB systems (encryption, access controls, auditing).
• Support Hospice app with database-related development needs.
• Explore future DB modernization (PostgreSQL, Aurora) for 2027 roadmap.
