Job summary

Fuze Health is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead the Hospice database modernization effort, migrating SQL Server on EC2 to AWS RDS and upgrading to current supported versions. You will optimize SSIS/SSRS, implement cloud monitoring, and mentor the Hospice DBA team.

The role emphasizes HITRUST E1 compliance, cross-functional collaboration, and future planning for PostgreSQL/Aurora modernization across the United States.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in database administration.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, HA, DR.
• Hands-on SQL Server upgrades and end-of-support migrations.
• SSIS ETL and SSRS reporting experience.
• AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration and monitoring.
• Experience with AWS-native ETL tools (DMS, Glue).
• Monitoring with Datadog/CloudWatch; DMVs familiarity.
• Terraform for DB infra management.
• Windows Server administration
• AWS Database Specialty and/or Solutions Architect certifications
• Mentoring junior DBAs or developers on best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2; migrate to AWS RDS and upgrade SQL Server 2016 as needed.
• Assess and migrate SSIS ETL and SSRS reports; consider AWS-native ETL/reporting or in-place upgrades.
• Drive cost optimization: rightsizing, RI evaluations, storage tiering, licensing costs.
• Upskill Hospice DBA team on AWS DB operations and cloud best practices.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring and performance baselines with Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design automated backup, restore, and DR using AWS Backup.
• Collaborate with DevOps on Terraform-based infrastructure automation.
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance across DB systems.
• Support Hospice app team with DB-related development needs.
• Explore PostgreSQL/Aurora for future modernization in the 2027 roadmap.
