Job summary

Fuze Health is seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator to lead our Hospice-focused database modernization efforts across the United States. You will drive the SQL Server modernization on EC2, migrate to AWS RDS, upgrade from SQL Server 2016, and optimize the SSIS/SSRS estate to a cloud-native architecture.

You will also implement cost optimization, mentor the Hospice SQL DBA team, and establish robust monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch while ensuring HITRUST E1 compliance for

Qualifications

• 8+ years of database administration experience.
• Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server 2016+ performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery.
• Hands-on SQL Server upgrade/migration experience (e.g., 2016).
• Strong SSIS ETL and SSRS reporting experience.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup and migrations.
• Familiarity with AWS DMS, AWS Glue, and ETL modernization.
• Terraform experience for DB infra.
• Knowledge of HITRUST E1 compliance.
• Mentoring junior DBAs or developers on DB best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2: migrate to AWS RDS and/or in-place upgrade from SQL Server 2016 ahead of end of support.
• Assess, migrate, and maintain SSIS ETL packages and SSRS reports, possibly re-platforming to AWS-native ETL/reporting.
• Drive database cost optimization: right-sizing, Reserved Instances, storage tiering.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations and cloud best practices.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery with AWS Backup.
• Collaborate with DevOps on Terraform for RDS management.
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance across databases.
• Support Hospice application team with DB-related needs.
• Explore PostgreSQL/Aurora for 2027 roadmap.
