Job summary

Fuze Health Inc. is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead the database modernization for the Hospice care services. You will drive migration from SQL Server on EC2 to AWS RDS, modernize SSIS/SSRS, and optimize costs while mentoring the Hospice DBA team.

You will establish cloud-native monitoring (Datadog, CloudWatch), ensure HITRUST E1 compliance, and collaborate with DevOps on Terraform-based automation. The role is US-wide with remote work options.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server version upgrades and end-of-support migrations (e.g., off SQL Server 2016).
• Strong hands-on experience with SSIS and SSRS.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, monitoring, Multi-AZ.
• Experience with AWS-native ETL and data migration tooling (AWS DMS, AWS Glue) and/or plan for modernizing SSIS-based ETL in AWS.
• Experience with database migration projects (on-premises or EC2 to RDS, and in-place EC2 version upgrades).
• Strong understanding of backup/restore strategies, point-in-time recovery, cross-region replication.
• Experience with monitoring tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, SQL Server DMVs).
• Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization.
• Experience in regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2).

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2 and migration to AWS RDS.
• Assess, migrate and maintain SSIS ETL and SSRS reports; consider AWS-native ETL options.
• Drive database cost optimization and right-size resources.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations and best practices.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring and performance baselines (Datadog, CloudWatch).
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes (AWS Backup).
• Collaborate with DevOps on infrastructure automation (Terraform for RDS).
• Support HITRUST E1 compliance across database systems.
• Evaluate PostgreSQL/Aurora options for future modernization.
