Job summary

Fuze Health is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead the Hospice‑focused AWS database modernization. You will steer migration to AWS RDS or upgrade SQL Server 2016 on EC2, modernize SSIS/SSRS workloads, and drive cost optimization while mentoring the existing Hospice DB team.

You will implement monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch and ensure HITRUST E1 compliance across databases. The role collaborates with DevOps on Terraform for infrastructure and evaluates future platforms like

Qualifications

• 8+ years of database administration experience.
• Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, HA, DR.
• Hands-on with SQL Server upgrades and end-of-support migrations.
• Strong SSIS and SSRS experience.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup and migration.
• Familiar with AWS-native ETL and data migration tooling.
• Experience with Terraform for DB infra management.
• Knowledge of HITRUST E1 compliance.
• Mentoring junior DBAs on cloud DB operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2: migrate to AWS RDS (SQL Server) or in-place upgrade from SQL Server 2016.
• Migrate and maintain SSIS ETL and SSRS reports, either re-platforming to AWS-native tools or upgrading on EC2.
• Drive database cost optimization: right-size instances, RI evaluation, and licensing costs.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS DB operations and cloud best practices.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch, set baselines.
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery using AWS Backup.
• Collaborate with DevOps on Terraform for RDS infrastructure.
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance across DB systems.
• Support Hospice app team with DB needs.
• Explore PostgreSQL/Aurora for 2027 roadmap.
