Job summary

Fuze Health Inc. is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to join the Technology Platform team supporting the Hospice business unit.

You will drive the database modernization effort on AWS, focusing on SQL Server on EC2 and migrations to AWS RDS, while modernizing SSIS/SSRS estates and implementing cost optimization. You will mentor the Hospice SQL DBA team on cloud database operations, set up monitoring with Datadog and CloudWatch, and ensure HITRUST compliance across database systems.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of database administration experience.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, high availability, disaster recovery.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server version upgrades and end-of-support migrations.
• Strong hands-on experience with SSIS and SSRS.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, monitoring, Multi-AZ.
• Experience with AWS-native ETL and data migration tooling (AWS DMS, AWS Glue).
• Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, and query optimization.
• Experience in regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2).

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2: migration to AWS RDS and/or upgrade before end of support.
• Migrate and maintain SSIS ETL packages and SSRS reports; re-platform to AWS-native ETL/reporting or upgrade on SQL Server on EC2.
• Drive database cost optimization: right-sizing, Reserved Instances, storage tiering, licensing costs.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations and cloud best practices.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring and alerting using Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design automated backup, restore and disaster recovery processes using AWS Backup.
• Collaborate with DevOps on infrastructure automation (Terraform for RDS).
• Ensure HITRUST A1 compliance across databases; implement encryption and access controls.
• Support hospice application team with database-related development needs.
• Evaluate PostgreSQL/Aurora for future modernization.
