Job summary

Fuze Health is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to lead the cloud modernization of our Hospice data platforms. You will drive SQL Server on EC2 migrations to AWS RDS, upgrade paths from SQL Server 2016, and modernize SSIS ETL and SSRS reporting while optimizing costs and mentoring the Hospice DBA team.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in database administration.
• Deep expertise with Microsoft SQL Server (2016+) performance tuning, HA and DR.
• Hands-on experience with SQL Server version upgrades and end-of-support migrations.
• Strong hands-on experience with SSIS and SSRS.
• Experience with AWS RDS (SQL Server) setup, migration, monitoring, Multi-AZ.
• Experience with AWS-native ETL and data migration tools (DMS, Glue).
• Experience with database migration projects (on-prem or EC2 to RDS, and in-place upgrades).
• Backup/restore strategies, point-in-time recovery, cross-region replication.
• Monitoring tools (Datadog, CloudWatch, SQL Server DMVs).
• Proficiency in T-SQL, stored procedures, query optimization.
• Experience in regulated environments (HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC2).

Responsibilities

• Lead SQL Server modernization on EC2: migrate to AWS RDS or in-place upgrade from SQL Server 2016.
• Migrate and maintain SSIS ETL and SSRS reports, or re-platform to AWS-native tools.
• Drive database cost optimization: right-size, Reserved Instances, storage tiering.
• Upskill Hospice SQL DBA team on AWS database operations and best practices.
• Establish cloud-native monitoring and performance baselines with Datadog and CloudWatch.
• Design automated backup, restore, and disaster recovery using AWS Backup.
• Collaborate with DevOps on infrastructure automation (Terraform for RDS).
• Ensure HITRUST E1 compliance for database systems.
