Job summary

GovCIO is seeking an experienced C# / ASP.NET Application Engineer to maintain a SQL Server backend and SSIS packages in a fully remote U.S. role. The candidate will ensure robust data access, identity integration, and secure deployments across the stack.

You will work with cross-functional teams to optimize performance, implement new features, and maintain quality documentation while keeping up-to-date with .NET developments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS or Engineering; 12+ years of experience or commensurate professional experience.
• Strong C# and ASP.NET experience.
• Solid T-SQL skills and SQL Server administration knowledge.
• Hands-on SSIS development and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Active Directory and Windows Authentication; read/write to AD.
• SQL Server Agent job management.
• Familiarity with IIS administration.
• Git-based development workflow.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve ASP.NET (MVC/Web API/Web Forms) applications, ensuring seamless integration between front-end and back-end components.
• Support SQL Server databases: queries, indexing, performance tuning.
• Update and deploy SSIS packages.
• Manage SQL Server Agent jobs and troubleshoot failures.
• Design, query, and manage relational databases (SQL Server), including writing efficient T-SQL, stored procedures.
• Configure and support AD authentication and IIS settings.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and debug issues across the full application stack, from the UI down to the database and server layers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including DBAs, system administrators, and security teams to design new features and troubleshoot issues.
• Maintain documentation and follow secure coding practices.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following .NET coding standards and object-oriented design principles.
• Optimize data models and database architectures to enhance performance and scalability.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to overall code quality and adherence to .NET best practices.
• Stay current with updates to the .NET framework and the broader Microsoft development ecosystem, recommending improvements where relevant.
