Job summary

GovCIO is seeking an experienced C# / ASP.NET Application Engineer to maintain and enhance a .NET web application with a SQL Server backend, SSIS packages, and AD integration. This role is fully remote within the United States.

You will work across the full stack, optimize SQL queries, manage SSIS packages, and collaborate with security and database teams to ensure secure, scalable solutions. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Computer Science or Engineering with 12+ years of experience
• Strong C# and ASP.NET experience
• Solid T-SQL skills and SQL Server administration knowledge
• Hands-on SSIS development and troubleshooting
• Experience with Active Directory and Windows Authentication
• SQL Server Agent job management
• Familiarity with IIS administration
• Git-based development workflow
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve ASP.NET MVC/Web API/Web Forms applications
• Support SQL Server databases: queries, indexing, performance tuning
• Update and deploy SSIS packages
• Manage SQL Server Agent jobs and troubleshoot failures
• Design, query and manage SQL Server databases with T-SQL
• Configure and support AD authentication and IIS settings
• Troubleshoot and debug across UI to database/server layers
• Collaborate with DBAs/sysadmins/security teams on features
• Maintain documentation and follow secure coding practices
• Write clean, well-documented code following .NET standards
• Optimize data models and architectures for performance
• Participate in code reviews and ensure .NET best practices
• Stay current with .NET updates and Microsoft ecosystem
