Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies (BHHC) seeks a Senior Business Development Manager to drive territory growth across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Western Pennsylvania, and Kentucky. You’ll collaborate with underwriting, agency partners, and corporate teams to expand profitable business and enhance customer experience.

The role requires travel, strong leadership, and the ability to develop strategic plans while expanding BHHC’s market presence and partnerships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Minimum five (5) years in workers’ compensation industry for mid-level, seven (7) years for senior level, preferably in Marketing or Underwriting.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute territory plans with travel plans.
• Position BHHC as the market of choice with agents and target markets.
• Monitor agency growth and profitability; identify performance gaps and develop improvement plans.
• Manage agency partnerships to meet premium standards and growth goals.
• Conduct in-person agency visits, prospect meetings, and stewardship events.
• Educate agents on BHHC’s value proposition and target opportunities.
• Mentor other Business Development Managers where needed.
• Participate in underwriting meetings to address large accounts and agency needs.
• Gather competitor intelligence and develop action plans for agency optimization.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Underwriting, and IT to ease doing business and improve offerings.
