Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to drive territory growth across MI, OH, IN, western PA, and KY. The role focuses on production opportunities, agency relationships, and profitable growth with frequent travel.

You will collaborate with underwriting, client services, and marketing to enhance ease of doing business and monitor performance across agencies. A Bachelor's degree and 7+ years in workers' comp are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university is required.
• Five years of experience in the workers' compensation insurance industry (mid-level) and seven years for senior-level roles are preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to present to management and public groups.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute territory plans with clear travel strategies.
• Position BHHC as the market of choice with agents and target markets.
• Monitor agency growth and profitability; identify performance gaps and develop improvement plans.
• Manage agency partnerships to achieve premium standards and growth goals.
• Conduct in-person agency visits, prospect meetings, and stewardship events; coordinate with underwriting and loss control.
• Educate agents on BHHC value proposition, opportunities, and service model by premium size.
• Mentor other Business Development Managers and support new tools and processes.
• Attend weekly underwriting meetings and contribute to discussions on large accounts to win the account.
