Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies, Workers Compensation Division, is seeking a Business Development Manager to lead territory development and agency relationships across Michigan and neighboring states. You will analyze production patterns, collaborate with underwriting and marketing teams, and drive profitable growth through targeted partnerships.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in workers' compensation; strong Microsoft Office skills and ability to learn proprietary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 5+ years of workers' compensation insurance experience, preferably in marketing or underwriting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to quickly master proprietary and vended software.

Responsibilities

• Create and execute territory plans with travel, aligning with regional resources.
• Position BHHC as market of choice; establish agency appointments and growth.
• Monitor agency profitability and develop improvement plans.
• Manage agency partnerships to meet minimum premium standards and growth.
• Conduct in-person agency visits and prospect meetings; coordinate with Underwriting/Client Services.
• Educate agents on BHHC value proposition and market opportunities.
• Participate in underwriting meetings and support large accounts.
• Gather competitor data and develop action plans for agency reviews.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Underwriting, and IT to improve templates and products.
• Maintain Producer Profiles, Business Plans, Agency Files and Bravo contacts.
• Maintain President’s Circle information for agencies.
