Job summary

Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Companies is seeking a Business Development Manager for the Workers Compensation Division. The role focuses on business development and brand strategy across multiple states, with frequent travel and collaboration across underwriting, client services, and marketing teams.

The ideal candidate has extensive workers compensation experience and a track record in agency development and profitability improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in the workers compensation insurance industry (Mid-Level).
• Minimum of seven (7) years for Senior-Level, preferably in a Marketing or Underwriting role.

Responsibilities

• Assists with special assignments and projects as needed.
• Creates and executes territory plans with travel for coverage.
• Positions BHHC as the market of choice with agents and target markets; develops agency partnerships and production.
• Monitors agency growth and profitability; develops profit improvement and growth plans.
• Manages agency partnerships to meet minimum premium standards and growth goals; handles appointments and renewals.
• Conducts in-person agency visits and participates in prospect meetings, claims reviews, and stewardship meetings.
• Educates agents on BHHC’s value proposition and service model; supports implementation of new tools and processes.
• Participates in underwriting meetings; supports large accounts and agency needs to win the account.
• Gathers competitor information and develops action plans; shares data with peers and underwriters.
• Collaborates with Marketing, Underwriting, and IT to enhance templates and product offerings; looks to improve capabilities.
• Maintains Producer Profiles, Agency Files, and Bravo contacts; documents submissions and reports.
• Keeps President’s Circle information up to date for assigned agencies.
