Job summary

Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc. in Massachusetts is seeking an experienced Senior Billing Analyst to own complex billing and accounts receivable for engineering projects.

You will advise Project Managers and Finance leadership, navigate billing requirements, resolve escalated issues, and turn receivables data into actionable insights in a hybrid work model. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Management, or related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered.
• 4+ years of experience in billing, accounts receivable, collections, or related field.
• Experience with complex billing in professional services, engineering, architecture, construction, or project-based environment preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with ERP/accounting systems; Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint strongly preferred.
• Advanced Excel and reporting skills with ability to analyze financial data.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and finalize complex client invoices in accordance with contract terms and deadlines.
• Manage a portfolio of project accounts, including billing exceptions and revisions.
• Review contract compensation, billing methods, and documentation for accuracy and compliance.
• Partner with Project Managers to develop invoicing and collection strategies for high-risk accounts.
• Monitor AR aging and analyze aging trends, disputes, and cash-flow impacts.
• Lead follow-up for outstanding receivables and support payment plans.
• Resolve complex billing, payment, and reconciliations discrepancies with clients and internal teams.
• Apply payments, reconcile unapplied cash, and oversee account reconciliations.
• Maintain complete project financial records and billing support documentation.
• Coordinate with subconsultants and vendors on AP activities.
• Prepare billing, AR aging, collections, and trend analyses for leadership.
• Support internal controls and audit requests related to billing and receivables.
• Identify and drive improvements to billing workflows and reporting.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior billing staff.
• Support additional finance, contract, and project activities as needed.
