Job summary

SOLV Energy, LLC is seeking an experienced BESS Engineer III to lead design, development, and optimization of battery energy storage systems. The role includes technical direction, oversight of engineers and partners, and coordination across electrical, civil, SCADA, and HV scopes.

The position is fully remote in the United States, with responsibilities spanning procurement, testing, commissioning, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 3+ years electrical engineering experience in BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Expertise in design, integration, and optimization of battery energy storage systems.
• Knowledge of BESS control strategies and optimization software.
• Proficiency with power system analysis tools (PSS/E, PSCAD).
• Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and utility standards; FERC 841 & IEEE 1547 knowledge.
• PE license preferred; ability to lead teams and manage projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering of BESS projects with cross-disciplinary teams.
• Review feasibility studies, site assessments, and system sizing analyses.
• Develop technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for procurement.
• Oversee procurement and review vendor drawings; ensure contract compliance.
• Coordinate with fire protection engineers and AHJs; support commissioning.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide lessons learned on BESS design.
• Support business development with technical proposals and consultations.
