Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a BESS Engineer III to design, develop, implement, and optimize battery energy storage systems. This remote role provides strategic direction and engineering oversight to deliver high-performance, safe BESS solutions across projects.

The candidate will collaborate with electrical, civil, structural, SCADA, and HV teams, manage Engineers of Record, and support procurement and commissioning activities. Regular travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years electrical engineering experience focused on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Experience designing and optimizing BESS, including lithium-ion, inverters, BMS, and grid interconnection equipment.
• Familiarity with BESS control strategies, algorithms and optimization software.
• Proficiency in power system analysis tools (PSS/E, PSCAD).
• Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, NESC, NFPA, and utility standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for BESS engineering scopes and provide technical direction to project teams.
• Lead and manage design and engineering of BESS ensuring compliance with contracts, utilities, and AHJ requirements.
• Review feasibility studies and system sizing analyses to propose optimal BESS configurations.
• Mentor Engineers of Record and third-party partners to ensure scope clarity and timely delivery.
• Coordinate with fire protection engineers and AHJs as needed.
• Develop and review technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for BESS components.
