Job summary

Adapture Renewables, Inc. is seeking a Senior BESS Engineer to serve as the technical backbone for battery energy storage across the portfolio.

You will lead independent technical evaluation of storage suppliers, define BESS specifications for RFPs, and support procurement with technical scoring and due diligence. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field.
• 5–8+ years in utility-scale battery energy storage engineering.
• Deep knowledge of lithium-ion BESS architecture (cells, modules, enclosures, PCS, EMS/BMS).
• Ability to evaluate ESS OEM offerings and defend technical positions.
• Familiarity with NFPA 855, UL 9540/9540A, and IEEE standards.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead independent technical evaluation of energy-storage suppliers and technologies across major OEMs (e.g., Fluence, eStorage, Wärtsilä, Tesla, LG, Samsung).
• Define technical specifications for BESS RFPs and support procurement's supplier selection with technical scoring and due diligence.
• Review proposals, datasheets and exhibits to identify performance, efficiency, degradation, and warranty risks.
• Support technical terms negotiations including capacity, degradation, augmentation, and testing protocols.
• Perform BESS electrical and system design review (DC/AC architecture, PCS sizing, augmentation planning, thermal and safety design).
• Coordinate with civil, electrical, and interconnection design for seamless storage integration.
• Develop and maintain ARI's BESS design standards and evaluation criteria.
• Support FAT/SAT and commissioning; assist in performance testing and operation verification.
• Assist Asset Management with storage performance analysis and warranty substantiation.
• Ensure compliance with safety requirements and AHJ coordination.
