Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Senior BESS Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of battery energy storage systems.

This fully remote role requires strategic technical direction, engagement with project teams, and oversight across engineering disciplines to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant deployments. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in electrical engineering with BESS emphasis, strong command of grid interconnection and control strategies, and a PE license is

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's preferred.
5+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
Expertise in design, integration, and optimization of battery energy storage systems (lithium-ion, inverters, BMS, grid interconnection).
Familiarity with BESS control strategies, algorithms, and optimization software.
Experience with power system analysis tools (PSS/E, PSCAD) and grid regulations (IEEE, NEC, NESC).
PE license preferred; strong leadership and communication skills; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

Serve as SME for BESS engineering scopes and guide project teams.
Lead design and engineering of BESS, ensuring compliance with contracts and utility requirements.
Review feasibility studies and analyses to optimize BESS configurations and future augmentation.
Provide technical oversight during procurement and vendor reviews.
Collaborate across electrical, civil, structural, SCADA, and HV scopes; mentor junior engineers.
Support testing, commissioning, energization, and synchronization activities.
Travel as needed to support project execution.
