Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Senior BESS Engineer to lead design, development, and optimization of battery energy storage systems.

This fully remote role requires strategic direction, technical oversight, and collaboration across electrical, civil, and SCADA domains to meet performance, safety, and reliability goals. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years in BESS or power systems, strong design and analysis skills, and a PE license preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master's preferred.
• 5+ years of electrical engineering with focus on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Expert knowledge of BESS components and grid interconnection equipment.
• Experience with BESS control strategies and optimization software.
• Proficiency in power system analysis tools (PSS/E, PSCAD).
• Familiarity with NEC, IEEE, and utility interconnection standards.
• PE license preferred; strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for BESS engineering scopes, guiding project teams.
• Lead design and engineering of BESS, ensuring contract and AHJ compliance.
• Review feasibility studies and sizing analyses for optimal configurations.
• Coordinate with engineers across electrical, civil, SCADA, HV scopes.
• Manage Engineers of Record and third-party partners for timely delivery.
• Develop technical specifications and drawings for BESS components.
• Provide technical oversight during procurement and vendor reviews.
• Collaborate with internal teams and contractors to design, procure, install, commission BESS.
• Oversee system modeling to optimize performance and reliability.
• Provide construction support, field issue resolution, and redesigns as needed.
• Support testing, validation, energization, and initial synchronization.
• Mentor junior engineers and stay current with industry standards.
