Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior BESS Engineer to lead design, development, and optimization of battery energy storage systems for utility-scale projects. This role provides technical direction, oversees engineering activities, and ensures performance, reliability, and safety across the project lifecycle.

Fully remote role with expectations discussed during interview; travel may be required for site engagements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required in Electrical Engineering; master's preferred.
5+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on BESS/renewables.
Expert knowledge of BESS components and grid interconnection.
Expert knowledge of BESS control strategies, algorithms, and optimization software.
Proficiency in power system analysis and simulation tools.
Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA).
PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as SME for BESS engineering scopes, providing guidance and technical direction to project teams.
Lead and manage the design and engineering of battery energy storage systems (BESS), ensuring compliance with contracts, utilities, and AHJ requirements.
Review feasibility studies, site assessments, and system sizing analyses to recommend optimal BESS configurations and future augmentation provisions.
Serve as a senior technical contributor across electrical, civil, structural, SCADA, and HV engineering scopes on assigned projects.
Mentor junior engineers and project teams, promoting innovation and engineering excellence.
Support business development through proposals, presentations, and technical consultations.
