Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a BESS Engineer III to design, develop, implement, and optimize battery energy storage systems across projects. The role provides technical direction and engineering oversight, with a focus on reliability, safety, and performance.

This is a fully remote position, with travel as needed. The candidate will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure compliance with codes and utility requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 3+ years electrical engineering experience with focus on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Expertise in BESS design, integration, and optimization including lithium-ion batteries, inverters, BMS, and grid interconnection equipment.
• Knowledge of BESS control strategies, algorithms, and optimization software.
• Proficiency in power system analysis and simulation tools (PSS/E, PSCAD).
• Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IBC, NFPA, and utility standards.
• PE license preferred for advanced responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for BESS engineering scopes and guide project teams.
• Lead design and engineering of BESS to meet contracts and AHJ requirements.
• Review feasibility studies, site assessments, and sizing analyses for optimal configurations.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors.
• Provide technical oversight during procurement, including reviews of drawings and vendor selections.
• Support testing, commissioning, energization, and initial synchronization.
• Travel as required to support project execution.
