Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a BESS Engineer III to lead design, development, and optimization of battery energy storage projects. This role provides technical direction and engineering oversight to ensure performance, reliability, and safety across projects.

The position is fully remote with interview discussions about location expectations and licensure requirements. A strong background in BESS, power systems, and applicable codes is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field; Master's preferred.
• 3+ years of electrical engineering experience focused on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Experience designing, integrating, and optimizing battery energy storage systems.
• Familiarity with BESS control strategies, algorithms, and optimization software.
• Knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IBC, NFPA, and utility interconnection standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for BESS engineering scopes and guide project teams.
• Lead design and engineering of BESS, ensuring contract, utility, and AHJ compliance.
• Review feasibility studies and site assessments to optimize configurations.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with SPEs and third-party partners.
• Develop and review specs, drawings, and documentation for procurement.
• Provide oversight during procurement and vendor reviews.
• Collaborate with teams to design, procure, install, and commission BESS systems.
• Oversee modeling, simulation, and analysis to optimize performance and reliability.
• Support testing, validation, commissioning, energization, and synchronization.
