Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a BESS Engineer III to design, develop, implement and optimize battery energy storage systems. This fully remote role provides strategic technical direction and engineering oversight for successful BESS delivery that meets performance, reliability, and safety requirements.

Responsibilities include leading design, reviews of feasibility studies, coordination with engineers, vendors, and AHJ authorities, and mentoring junior staff to ensure quality and timely project

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 3+ years of electrical engineering experience with focus on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Expertise in design, integration, and optimization of battery energy storage systems; including lithium-ion batteries, inverters, BMS, and grid interconnection equipment.
• Knowledge of BESS control strategies, algorithms, and optimization software.
• Proficiency in power system analysis (PSS/E, PSCAD) and simulation tools.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IBC, ASCE, NESC, NFPA, and utility standards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a SME for BESS engineering scopes and provide technical direction to project teams.
• Lead design and engineering of BESS, ensuring compliance with contracts, utilities, and AHJ requirements.
• Review feasibility studies, site assessments, and system sizing analyses to recommend optimal BESS configurations.
• Mentor engineers and coordinate with internal teams, vendors, and contractors on BESS design and implementation.
