Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a BESS Engineer III to design, develop, implement, and optimize battery energy storage projects. This fully remote role provides technical direction and engineering oversight to meet performance, reliability, and safety requirements.

You will lead BESS design, review studies, mentor engineers, and coordinate with AHJs and procurement teams. A BS in E.E. and 3+ years in BESS/power systems are required; PE license is preferred. Occasional travel may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering; Master's preferred.
• 3+ years in electrical engineering focusing on BESS, renewables, or power systems.
• Expertise in design, integration, and optimization of BESS.
• Knowledge of BESS control strategies and optimization software.
• Proficiency in power system analysis (PSS/E, PSCAD) and simulation tools.
• Familiar with NEC, IEEE, IBC, ASCE, NESC, NFPA standards.
• PE license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME for BESS engineering scopes and provide guidance to project teams.
• Lead design and engineering of BESS and ensure compliance with contracts and AHJ requirements.
• Review feasibility studies and sizing analyses to recommend optimal BESS configurations.
• Mentor junior engineers and project teams on BESS design principles.
• Coordinate with fire protection engineers and AHJs during projects.
• Collaborate with internal teams to design, procure, install, and commission BESS systems.
• Oversee system modeling and analysis to optimize performance and reliability.
• Provide engineering support during construction and commissioning.
