Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, offering flexible, transparent payment options. The Batch Infra team builds and maintains a scalable compute platform to support ML, product, and financial engineering workloads on the cloud.

The role leads a team to deliver reliable backend systems with on-call reliability and high availability. You will work with product and analytics to define technical plans, own quarterly goals, and mentor engineers while promoting a culture

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Experience with workflow orchestration frameworks (Airflow, Flyte, Prefect, Temporal, Luigi, etc.).
• Experience scaling frameworks like Spark/Flink on Kubernetes for large datasets.
• Ability to define a technical plan for delivering major features with simple, extensible design.
• Strong code ownership and ability to safely implement large changes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with a global team.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.

Responsibilities

• You will own and deliver quarterly goals, lead engineers through ambiguity, and support delivery.
• You will collaborate with product, design & analytics across the lifecycle.
• You will identify and lead resolution of project, process, or tech issues.
• You will monitor metrics and support on-call reliability of artifacts.
• You will enforce code design standards and promote quality across the team.
• You will mentor teammates with feedback and lead by example.
